Older & Gay
LGBT Network Older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Trans Persons Group
Season's Greetings,
Our monthly meeting for December was earlier than usual (the 4th Tuesday falls on Christmas Day). Nonetheless, it was a suitably jolly and festive occasion with party games, an over abundance of seasonal food and Christmas music. Whilst we might not be ready for performing at the Royal Albert Hall, full marks must be awarded to everyone who made a valiant effort to sing carols along with the electric keyboard. It was also a real pleasure to have another new member Michael who was warmly welcomed.
Alan's operation was postponed, but we understand that if all has gone according to plan, he should now be back home. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Sadly our Secretary Paul will be leaving us for at least three months after successfully gaining a contract that will take him to the deepest depths of darkest Essex. We wish Paul every success in his endeavours...his talents and sparkling presence will be sorely missed.
Attached is the latest newsletter from Opening Doors in London. If you think that we could offer similar activities to some of those mentioned in its contents, please flag them up for consideration. Please keep in mind that at present we have no funding, but we are grateful to VAST and others for making helpful suggestions of funding sources. However, we are now better prepared for making funding bids, as we now have a Constitution and a Diversity & Equality policy in place.
